Applications:
As I am interested in design within the fashion industry I decided to use a website called Fashion Workie to begin looking for internships, all of which are in London and paid, which would give me the beginning experience to be able to connect with the industry and see if it would be right for my type of design. Overall I applied to 7 positions, all with a personalised statement, which was changed to suit the particular role. E.g. I am a second-year student, currently studying Graphic Design BA Hons, at Leeds Arts University. I am a dedicated and hardworking individual with an evolving creative style, taking into consideration the way in which the creative sphere is constantly progressing.
This academic year has seen a vast range of work produced including app designs, website designs, books, print, moving image etc. (as can be seen in my portfolio at callumoreillydesign.com)
Throughout my university career as of date, each project entails a plethora of steps, from in-depth primary and secondary research, to identify the needs of a brief, to developing multiple ideas and responding to relevant and appropriate feedback; to ensure the most polished and professional outcome.
This opportunity would allow me to further explore my passion for design in a live workplace environment, and further develop skills I have experienced this year. This opportunity has the potential to allow me to make an impact in a current and active way, as well as the chance to begin my design career with a company with an aspirational ethos and admirable success.
Overall, I believe that my skill set in design, mixed with my experience and passion for the fashion retail industry, alongside the fantastic potential this internship would offer for my personal and professional development would make me ideal for the position.

Replies:
I have received two replies from the roles I have applied to so far...
The gym wardrobe:
The company is designer gym clothing outlet who are looking for an intern to be able to assist with the daily graphic workings of the company alongside their small creative team. Although when replying with the managing director, they were looking for someone who could stay on with the role after the 3 month internship period, and therefore I would be unable to complete the role.
Prism London:
Prism is a designer accessories company based in Marylebone, who have invited me to an interview next week, although the design is at the basis of this internship, the job role seems to be more social marketing/PR based. The minimum term is 3 months for the internship and therefore I have decided that I would rather spend 3 months in design specific environments to get my stance in the industry established before moving into other fields, to help me prepare for the third year.
