Whilst in Barcelona we also went to hey studio, this was again
another graphic design studio that although it was small was working on
worldwide projects. They had worked for massive corporations such as ESPN on a
typeface for the printed magazine, but also for companies such as Arrells which
is a local shoemaking company, designing all of their branding and identity.
This proved to me yet again, that small amount of people in a small studio, can
lead to still being able to complete worldwide projects. The work was to a high
standard, and fit in with the style that I like, being that it was minimalistic
with pops of colour. We also saw a set of characters that the studio had made,
in collaboration with the product designer, alongside their commissioned work
the studio works on its own personal projects. This personal project been a
publication, containing various characters depicting famous people. Proving
that no matter how much work you have on you can still have personal projects
going on, on the side, whether it be in a studio, or as a student. The talk was
inspiring to see how someone so young could get so far, the main designer in
his studio is giving us the talk into see how far she had come and how many
designers she had branched out to work for, has really given me the inspiration
and motivation to be able to do the same.
