Studio Brief 2 - Self-Branding Presentation
Presentation Notes:
|
Slide 1 |
Slide 1:
- CO Creative, this is my brand and
how I got here
|
Slide 2 |
Slide 2:
- My concept is based around me as a
person.
- I started to think about peoples
first impressions of me.
- What are my own considerations of
myself.
|
Slide 3 |
Slide 3:
- These are a few of the many words used to describe me by peers at the beginning of the year.
- Interesting because this was before anyone particularly knew me well, it was interesting to see first impressions of me, because they'll be similar to the first impressions of people I am working with.
|
Slide 4 |
Slide 4:
- This is where I began to consider what I thought about myself, including my likes and dislikes both in and out of design, to give myself a better idea of what I should build my brand around.
- Highlighted some of the ideas I think could work successfully to create a brand around.
|
Slide 5 |
Slide 5:
- Slide of random ideas.
- Random idea 1 is based around my glasses.
- Goes with the personality aspect.
- Goes with the first impressions aspect of the brand.
- Ironic cause I can’t design without my glasses but
designing makes me need them more.
- Random idea 2 is based around taking on lots of projects
at the same time.
- Called ‘visualhoe’.
- Idea of practice in different specialisms and techniques
rather than just sticking to my comfort zone.
- Can move around different styles, not one set visual
style.
|
Slide 6 |
Slide 6:
- Different names of what to title myself.
- Not wanting to title myself to be closed as a creative,
not wanting to just be branded as a graphic designer.
- Decided to brand myself as a creative so I don’t need to stick
to one creative practice.
|
Slide 7 |
Slide 7:
- Beginning of my development of my logo based around my
glasses.
- Typeface based around the lines found in the glasses
frame.
- Some with text some without having a more visual approach
focusing around colour.
|
Slide 8 |
Slide 8:
- This is the beginning
of the digital design stages piecing together on my chosen concept, based
around my glasses, and personality.
- Want to work with minimalism to make it memorable and
simple.
- Start with monochrome and work with colour later on.
|
Slide 9 |
Slide 9:
- Design 1 looks at following the frame of my glasses and
creating a typeface which differentiates the letters both C and O.
- Design 2 looks at creating something directly inspired by
the glasses including the arms, but it was overcomplicated and moved away from
being minimalistic and simple.
- Design 3 moves back to the original design but the change
in type placement has been changed to give it a little more balance.
- Design 4 is the design I decided to continue progressing,
the design is balanced and simple and was sourced from the use of the first ‘O’
in the first design, I constructed the ‘C’ to look the same.
- These images were used as reference to develop the logo.
|
Slide 10 |
Slide 10:
- This slide shows my finished logo, I added the creative
through the centre to reference the nose band of my glasses.
- Type placement also keeps the design balanced and even,
also why it has been centred.
|
Slide 11 |
Slide 11:
- I used century gothic as the main type base to influence
and shape my design.
- The C and O are similar to that in my design due to the
curved nature.
- I like the modern and simplistic style of the typeface, I
didn’t want to use something like Helvetica because I think it is overused, and
the curved nature of century gothic gives it a bit more of a personality.
|
Slide 12 |
Slide 12:
- These are my colour variations that I have created of my
logo design.
- These colours are a breakdown of CYMK colour palate,
which is very evident in my work, and strips the factors of design back to its
core.
- Although I think the most successful are the black and
pink as they work best against both white and together.
- They represent my design style, minimal with pops of
colour.
|
Slide 13 |
Slide 13:
- The production of my brand is the application of it to
things such as, promotional material, business cards, letter heads etc.
|
Slide 14 |
Slide 14:
- This is my business card mock up, it is an accurate
representation of how I would want the finished product to look, being on
textured recycled paper.
- Solely black and pink, the two colour I decided on from
development.
- Minimal with a pop of colour.
|
Slide 15 |
Slide 15:
- This is my letterhead, the plain black logo alongside contacts
details at the top right hand corner of the page, which aligns with the colour
strip at the bottom, leaving a white space on the right hand side of the page;
playing on minimal aesthetic and negative space.
- The strip at the bottom is a strong block of the pink
used elsewhere in my branding, with a plain white logo on it on the left hand
side, which will align with the bulk text of the page.
|
Slide 16 |
Slide 16:
- This is the packaging label of what a tube’d up print
would look like, the colour contrasts well against the brown packaging and the
white of the label.
- Again has both the black and the pink that has been
throughout all of my branding.
- Plays on the white space of the white label, again
playing on minimalism and negative space.
