Self Branding Development

The concept behind my self-branding is taking points from my research with in the class groups as well as taking inspiration from the design styles I like, and the visual style I am developing as part of the course.

After considering many alternative names, I decided to go with CO Creative, this is based around the idea of representing myself and my values in design. C O is my initials which clearly represents my own name without any confusion, clear and concise and backed with reasoning, similar to how I prefer my design style to be. CO can also be a connotation for collaborative, when I am designing I believe it should be in a collaborative manner, working with the client not for them. I decided to brand myself as a creative rather than a graphic designer, as I think I do more than just graphic design alone; and by branding yourself as solely a graphic designer you are limiting the amount of things you can do with the clients first impression of yourself.

Considering this I began to experiment with my logotype, I wanted something that again was representative of my design style and of myself. To do so I reflected on my feedback from others about myself and their first impressions, ‘a little blind’ stuck in my mind and is something I think about a lot. The idea that I love design but through constantly looking at screens whilst designing and researching I am constantly damaging my eyes to the point where my prescriptions changed twice since I’ve come to university. Therefore, I decided to design my logotype based around my glasses, the lenses of which fit the glyph of a C and O. A few initial idea sketches were developed into digital developments as can be seen below, based around research images of my glasses and following their structure; as can be seen in my self-branding presentation.
