Self Branding/Promotion - Website Update

Live Site: https://callumoreillydesign.com/

Figure 1
My website itself sees the application of my branding identity throughout, the logo at the top has been put onto one level just so it can be displayed within the header banner itself without destroying the proportions of the page, due to the fact that I wanted the work to be the largest part of the landing page once you click on the website.

This is been placed on a white banner and pinned to the page to ensure no matter where you score on the page my logo and branding is evident as well as the navigation for the rest of the website.

Figure 2
I took navigation into consideration in the natural way that the user would use the website for example at the bottom of each page there is a link to other projects to save people going back to the homepage and having to find more projects. When you click on the logo it take you back to the homepage, when you click on contact it takes you to a mailto link opening the mail application of that computer or phone device with my design email address already pasted in the address. Taking this into consideration allows the audience to be able to see the high level of finish I expect within everything I design therefore representing my process and practice.
A white background has been used in order to keep the colour focus on the work itself, due to using colour is a big part of my practice. This is also visually reaffirmed by the use of light backgrounds on the work mockups. This was highly inspired by a quote from Kate Morross herself within the portfolio crit I attended…

“There are two types of designers, white background designers, and black background designers”

Due to the type of design I create, which I believe to be very commercial and focused around typography and colour I bested a white background as it highlights the simplistic clean and modern nature of my design, wears a black background with more complement and edgy design.

In the about section there is small paragraph describing me as a designer and the type of specialisms within design I mainly focus on. This does not mention I'm a student due to the fact that I don't think it is needed at this level and I should be treated like a professional, in order to have my work viewed as a professional manner.
